Antichrist by Lars von Trier

I went last night. What a movie... It's quite extreme in that it's quite violent. Very explicit too. Especially the beginning was shot beautifully. Interestingly with Red cameras. I thought they were still vapourware, but apparently, they're good enough to shoot movies with. The story itself is not that fascinating, but it's not a movie you'll likely forget.

Here's the first couple of minutes of the movie. It's quite explicit sexually and not safe for work. Listen to the music an aria from the opera Rinaldo by Händel. It's really beautiful.

I'm still shaking after seeing that clip Wens. As soon as they panned to the child, I knew where they were going to take us. Difficult to watch but shot and scored beautifully. I imagine the whole film is as unforgettable as the preview. The explicit sex; no big deal - the boy falling to his death; excruciatingly painful.

I'm sure this film will be hard to find in my neck of the woods; but I now need to know how the rest of the film plays out!

(I'm going to go see if they're talking about it on line anywhere.)

Well, the kid falling is hardly the hardest part to watch in this movie. It is quite an unforgettable movie indeed.

I just read a bit about the movie and the female lead who recovered from a brain aneurysm. Scenes of female genital mutilation?! Yes, I'm sure that couldn't be easy to watch. At least the little boy falling was almost gentle as he and the teddy bear hit the snow. But still, there's something in that easy innocent flight that ends in death that's harder for me to watch than adults acting violently. It's just me.

Anyway, I'm still trying to find the movie somewhere. Perhaps it'll be playing in Vegas. I'm heading up there Monday. Will report back on the "gathering".
